Anyone who knows me knows that i am a big fan of Big Love. I finally secured and watched the second season and margene wants her husband to take a fourth wife because she wants a best friend to be there with her and to have as a sister or 'sister-wife' if you're up on the lingo.
Living out in the middle of no-damn-where, i sometimes pine for a friend also. If i were to be polygamous, i'd choose my best friend. But i can't say i'd be too cool with her sleeping with my husband. Even though, and thankfully if it were a real possibility, she doesn't want to have anymore kids anyway. But that's the way i'd want it...i'd want my best friend to live here, but i wouldn't want her to ever, ever, ever touch my husband... i've read a lot of "polygamy is natural" BS out there..if it's so natural to be polygamous, why then would i turn homicidal on my best friend if she were to share a marital bed with my husband?
The big polygamy issue for most people is this: Is it a choice or not? when i was married to a muslim, i was keenly aware that it was not, and if i didn't like it, then he just wasn't going to tell me about it. it's why he's and Ex.
But on a more logical note, There would be some pretty serious issues aside from bed sharing. I'd want the second wife to share my view of child-rearing, which i can't ever seem to find a woman who does. I don't accept whining and crying for things or power struggles out of kids...they are manipulative by nature and once they've got you figured out, you're as good as screwed, so you had just better be one who isn't easily manipulated. my policy is: if you cry for it or lie for it, you're definitely not getting it. too many women give in and their kids run all over them and it is so sad to see the kids put on their innocent child faces and get away with everything. If i had a wife, i would expect her to be aware of the rules of children and that we don't accept tantrums out of anyone over the age of 3. By then, they should have developed at least minimal negotiating skills, or at the very least the ability to say that they don't like something and maybe even why.
The bed situation...i know some people aren't cool with three in a bed, but to be honest, i'd like to have a blanket buffer so i actually got to keep some of it at night! My DH kicks it all down to the bottom of the bed so it would be nice to just pull it over to our side. But I would NOT be cool w/ the sex...especially if i had to sleep somewhere else..i went to a lot of trouble to find a nice bed, i'm not giving it up half-time: they can find someplace else.
See? i'm just too selfish and jealous to have a wife...i'd probably do some really childish things to make her life miserable so she'd either go away or know her place...and that's probably why it's illegal. So women don't get stuck with other women who would make life hell. I imagine it's harder to divorce two people when it's really only one of them that makes you crazy. What women really need doesn't seem to be polygamy, it seems to be that women need friendship with other women who have their own separate lives away from another woman's bed, home and husband.

Nobody likes me, Everybody hates me, guess i'll sit at home alone?
Everything is horrible! I'm lonely as hell with no one to talk to, we're default on the mortgage, we can't pay any bills, I've been in a custody battle for 4 years that exhausts me, I'm about to have another baby and I'm uneducated so i can't even contribute an income without losing money every month, and I'm being sued for child support which i can't afford to pay and not have to file for a million different public benefits.
Even Goodwill is too expensive! According to the state, we make too much to get food stamps or any other benefits everyone else seems to get, so we're trying to live on $700/month when our mortgage is $1150 an our bills by themselves are $800...It used to be easier than this! We actually used to make enough to cover this and all of our other expenses..and then my DH took a job on salary, which was supposed to go up and up and up, and he never moved in the pay scale, despite the fact that he was promised it. And so there we were, struggling like we haven't struggled since our beginning days of ramen and liquid vitamins (the poverty diet, i called it) and this time, we have kids to care for. I just want to talk to someone! I want to cry about it to someone; ANYONE!
And that's when it hit me: I'm just one of several million people whose family is going down fast with no end in sight. I don't want to lose my house, but what can i do? I can't make any money to give to the cause and with so many others experiencing the same problem, it will be pretty difficult to reach out and get some help. We were lucky enough to renegotiate our loan and get a fixed rate of less than 6%.
And we are still coming up short, with no Overtime in sight. What i wouldn't give for OT pay!!!! That would be almost $15/hr! we may actually get by then, too bad DH isn't getting many calls to repair A/Cs in December.
He probably won't start picking up any overtime until may. that's six months away with the newest member of our family due in Jan, she'll be six months old before we can afford to have her. If we manage to keep the house. It may be easier to afford things when we live in our car, which should be sometime in February. We may be able to stretch it till march, If we don't eat anything.

If you're going to be PC, you have to let liars lie
I was on a site dicussing religion and called someone out for lying about the doctrinal beliefs of their faith. The moderators, uneducated as they quite obviously are, ordered me to apologize.
Now, this is meant to be a christian site, so when someone lies about their faith so that their faith won't receive the scrutiny that the truth surely would bring, it makes me plenty angry. But you can't call someone out for being a liar and misleading people to avoid making their religion look crazy. As i said before, this is supposed to be a christian site, and Christ said "I have done nothing in secret." But it's okay to lie about what you believe so people don't think it's crazy?!
I'm devoutly catholic and i know people don't agree with it and some people think i'm crazy for it and that's fine, but i'm not going to openly lie about what i believe so they're more likely to convert or at least think it's a more honest faith than it is. This was a mormon chick lying about very basic doctrine...I grew up mormon and i know what they teach...but the sad thing is that the new converts aren't taught very basic doctrine...like that mormons believe that the kingdom of god will be rebuilt on the american continent and that it's fonding, the new Jerusalem, will be in jackson county missouri. Now, to me, about every faith, even my own, seems a little silly and superstitious at times, so I'm not judging what she believes...I'm mad that she lied about it and her purpose for lying was to intentionally mislead someone into believing it wasn't true. And that is sad to me...I don't care what you believe, just don't lie about it!
And the worst part is, in these "let's not offend anyone!" days, you can't even call a liar a liar! But if you tell the truth, you'll be sorely punished!

Fun stuff for bored housewives
I was online yesterday and today arguing about politics when i googled mitt romney and found digitaldanite.blospot.com . I adore this guy! He is hilarious and I think anyone who wants to know what one crazy-funny mormon guy thinks of mitt romney ought to check it out. It's a wonderful site..I'm not sure if it's satire like landoverbaptist or not, but it is very funny.
Also, a fun site for the wives who can't stand to be online and unproductive, there is the housewivestarot.com! Get ur tarot reading and a great recipe for meatloaf! My favorite us psychic psalad. It's just good fun!
And for you beginning wives who don't know where to start, http://romanholiday.typepad.com/thehelpfulhousewife/housekeeping_college/index.html
I love the housekeeping college but have problem with my word doc stuff so i can't DL them or anything. But if you have word, go for it! She's a wonderful lady and even though the site is a little lax, it is still helpful. (it is lax becasue she has got to be the busiest woman on the planet!)
I adore being a housewife, even when I'm exhausted by pregnancy! Mostly, i just like having the luxury of staying home and being able to be a bored housewife instead of an over-scheduled crying working mom...that was how it was before and i was no good at that! So, if you are also a boerd housewife who wants to be bored for a while but not enough to not get anything done, here's where i hang out.
