how bratz is killing youthful innocence

Bratz? should have called them SLUTZ

I think from the title, it's pretty obvious that i hate bratz. They are dolls made to look like skanks and being sold to little girls under the guise of "originality in personality" These are not original in any way, shape or form. What they are is an adult marketing gimmick being aimed at children, in particular girls.

What it basically comes down to is this: These dolls perpetuate the idea of little girls being sexual creatures, even so much that they themselves think that way. they have no idea of the implications or that by emulating these characters, they are putting themselves in a potentially harmful situation. Parents are supposed to be in-tune with this sort of thing so that they can "smell the rat" as it were and avoid it. I see these pro-bratz parents as failures in parenting.

They don't understand that letting little girls dress-up in sexy clothes and play in make-up is what pedophiles do to "groom" little girls for abuse. Now, they don't have to put in that kind of effort because girls as young as 3 years old are wearing t-shirts tat say things like "slut" and "tramp" on them, and asking "do i look sexy?"
These same parents don't know where the sexual offenders in their area live because their thinking is that it can't happen to them. Many of these parents are also very religious, which is a bit of a contradiction in that they claim to want to protect their children and teach them about god and purity and all that, while simultaneously dressing them like mini-hookers and avoiding discussing what sex is and that they shouldn't let anyone touch them in their "private places".

You can't set your daughters up to think that their value is on what they look like and be body-centric, and then turn around and expect them to understand that their true value comes from who they are. If you've taught them to disrespect themselves and to have no dignity, you can't then expect them to behave in a dignified way. That is why my poor 12 yr old niece is considering sex. Because at 12, it has permeated the culture. she has friends that are already pregnant...because they aren't aware that sex has consequences, the least of which is pregnancy.
She knows several 12 yr olds whose 'boyfriends' are in their 20s and say things like " if you want a boy to like you, you have to have sex with him, even if it hurts really bad."
And my niece was on the cusp of the bratz phenomenon. she was about 8 when they were gaining popularity. She even worries for her 5 yr old sister who dresses in mini skirts and wants to be a "bratz" when she gets her boobies.
Sex and romantic relationships are being promoted to children in a way i cannot possibly grasp fully. In a conversation i had, i was informed that in an episode of "that's so raven" a seven yr old is trying to get two other seven yr olds to be in a relationship, and the boy likes and older girl and wants her to be his "woman". Since when did it become acceptable to refer to a woman by her gender as a form of endearment? This is what our kids are absorbing, whether we like to admit it or not.

Maybe if more parents weren't relying on TV and movies to raise their kids and actually did it themselves, they'd get it.

note: I tried very hard to find a pic of a prostitute/hooker/slut to compare w/ the bratz dolls, but i couldn't find one where the women in the pictures wore as little or as slutty clothing...sorry.

what's the big deal with Ron Paul?

I guess what's so impressive about him is that he just answers the questions that get asked of him. Watch him get interviewed by a seasoned journalist like Bob Scheiffer. Now, usually, B gets really pissed off at the politicos he interviews because they half-answer or don't answer at all. But while interviewing Paul, he seemed to listen in awe of the man.
I noticed this abject fascination when he was interviewed by jon stewart and steven colbert. They just listened with bright eyes the way people used to listen with bright eyes to JFK. ( who was a political hero if not a philandering husband.) He has captivated the nation with his honesty. And that's what people like. He's handsome enough, yes, but that is not where the widespread attraction lies. I really think it's becasue he's just out there, saying what he thinks, standing by the constitution because he believes in it. And that is what makes people believe in him.
I don't agree with everything he does, but I definitely do not disagree with his stance on my being able to homeschool my kids. I put my daughter into the public school system reading at a second-grade level and doing addition and subtraction and now, in the first grade, she has to relearn all of that, because it wasn't utilized and she has forgotten it. ( I was also home-schooled and went into the public school system in the 5th grade and left in the 10th grade having LITERALLY gained NO knowledge, but instead lost much of what had been basic knowledge.)

i like his whole "the government can't tell you what you can and can't put into your body" attitude while still maintaining that every life, even a fetus, has a constitutional right to be born. (actually, it's in the declaration of independence..."life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness") What does concern me is this: if a woman is a meth addict and gets pregnant, what's going to happen to that baby? Since he is pro-life, I'd like to know how he would handle the situation.
I don't know if i'll vote for him or not, and there are a lot of questions i'd like to ask him, but i can definitely see why he is so captivating.

TODAY'S MANTRA: I WILL BE THE PERFET HOUSEWIFE

or at least i will APPEAR to be the perfect housewife. I'm not in the mood to clean or cook or do anything that means i have to leave the computer for more than five seconds. So, how do you motivate a tired, lazy housewife? that's really the question at hand.

I keep saying to myself "If you just get up and do it, it will be done before you know it, and you'll be happier that you got it done."

But i know that is false...it will take twice as long and i'll be more tired than i was when i started. But it still has to get done...I wish i were rich and could hire a maid to do it for me. But then, i'd just feel badly because she'd have to go home and clean her own house, so i'd basically clean for her and still pay her.

I am looking up some books to help me try to find some way to learn to do this stuff effectively and found one that at least looks fun to read:

HOW TO BE THE PERFECT HOUSEWIFE: LESSONS IN THE ART OF MODERN HOME MANAGEMENT by ANTHEA TURNER

I can at lest ILL it at my local library...i need all the help i can get! If I had grown-up in the fifties, they would have taught me this in school or i could at least have taken classes in college. They should bring back domestic science so that those of us who want to learn to manage our home effectively would actually have the skills.

I have been very lonely these days. No one calls or really seems to want to talk at all. i feel like i am out on a sea alone and i turn to the cyber world for comfort. But where can i find it here?
join a blogring and ask for help? if i do that, i may never get any work done. i always liked chatting with friends while i clean or cook, it makes the day go faster and i get a lot done. But in the rush to make christmas money, everyone's taken seasonal jobs and no one is home. Or they are busy blogging themselves...ACK! when i decided to become a housewife, i didn't consider how terribly isolating it would be. I wish someone had said to me "keep a network of other SAHMs so you don't go insane." I'd take a SAHD too, but my husband wouldn't hear of it...And the only SAHD i know is kind of a creep.
*sigh* i wish i could take a personal day and go network at the library or something, but i don't have a car and it is tough to live in the country and have no car...i spend a lot of time in a fantasy land where i can get it all done and then find myself crying at the end of the day becasue it didn't happen.
I hang my hopes on a phone call perhaps coming in so i can at least hear another adult talk about something NOT having to do with getting that darned stain out or how to soothe an ouchie.
'Where will it end?' i ask myself...and then i remember: 'a woman's work is NEVER done.' and taht is the truth!

ooh! it's my first post!

my first post...TA-DA!
